Canon imageCLASS MF3240 - Setting up a mf3240 very easily. It is rather large, at 14.5 by 17.7 by 18.2 inches (hwd), but small enough to squeeze into the cramped desktop. weighs 10.4 lbs, printers big and strong but light enough to move around quite easily. Once you find a place for it, you just install the toner cartridge, loading paper, plug in the line cord and the power cable, and you're ready to start copying and Faxing. for printing and scanning, you need to install the software and then plug in the usb cable provided.
mf3240 also did well on the quality of the text, with more than half of our test fonts easily readable at 4 points and only one very stylish fonts need to be as large as 8 points. with this level of quality, you can count on it to deal with any text you want to print. Canon imageclass aios in general tend to be fast. mf3240, built around a 21-page-per-minute (ppm), is no exception. It whipped through our business application suite only 8 minutes 36 seconds. the cheapest AIO with a fast time on our test is the editor of choice canon imageclass mf5770, which costs twice as much and only slightly faster, at 8:17. Samsung scx-4521f pricier at a substantially slower, at 14:21.
that said, the graphics quality on display printer slightly below par for a monochrome laser. two major problems on the test are visible dithering, showing mild pattern as in some gray color and brightness changes in form of bloat Center on others, and a tendency to lose the thin line. the results are not always pretty, but as long as you stay away from the thin line, mf3240 should be fine for internal use. as is typical for laser printers, photo quality is suitable for printing a web page or client newsletter but not for the photo you want as a keepsake.
I ran into a small problem when I want to cancel printing. the front panel has a button labeled stop, but this button has no effect on printing, although it would stop fax or copy in progress. because there is no power switch, I have to pull out the electrical plug to stop printing. I later found out that there is a way to cancel printing via the front panel, but somehow, it's buried deep in the menu system.
Despite less than ideal graphics quality and small hidden problem, undo the canon imageclass mf3240 offers a lot for the money. Unfortunately, the lack of an adf — you can't get one even as options — restrict the usability of the unit, but that's the only thing that keeps it from getting editors ' choice. No matter what the size of the Office you work in, the chances are that you have to Fax, copy, or scan multipage documents at least sometimes. and it has to scan each individual pages is a task that is a waste of time.
